How can you do type one well?

Hi! I’m Katie!

My name is Katie Manion, MSW and I am a Chicago-based mental health coach and social worker with 13 years of lived experience managing T1D. I help people navigate the emotional weight of daily diabetes care—burnout, anxiety, grief, and the constant vigilance that never turns off—while building practical habits that make life with diabetes more comfortable via virtual coaching.

My approach blends empathy, evidence-based practice, and real world tools. I listen without judgment, normalize the tough feelings that come with T1D, and partner with you to set small, achievable goals: improving confidence, creating sustainable routines, reducing overwhelm, and developing coping skills to support navigating the complexities of T1D. I also support communication with loved ones, so you don’t have to carry everything alone.

If you’re feeling exhausted by diabetes management, stuck in cycles of guilt or perfectionism, or want a clearer path to emotional resilience alongside better health outcomes, I’ll help you create a plan that honors your life, priorities, and limits. You don’t have to figure this out by yourself—I’m here to help you feel more capable, calm, and in control.
